These discount points can be paid by either
the buyer of seller of a home and still be
a deduction used by the buyer. These
fee’s may be called origination fee,
loan discount, or discount points and are all
considered by the IRS to be a form of prepaid
interest.
Occasionally you may find a loan program where
the Lender will increase the loan amount to
cover the discount points. In this situation
the points will not be deductible.
Of course you will need to consult with a San
Diego Realtor and a tax professional
before buying or selling Real Estate since your
financial, personal, and tax situation may be
different. |
